Spawned from a long discussion about house music between Stephen Cracknell of The Memory Band and filmmaker Kieran Evans, The Balaeric Folk Orchestra turned into a full-fledged group with a fluctuating array of talented musicians and vocalists in 2011. Like its name suggests, the group reinterprets classic Balearic and acid house hits, but using only acoustic, traditional instruments. The results are surprisingly lovely and have won the group a deserved amount of buzz.
