When I Was 12 is an indie pop quartet from Philadelphia. The four-piece is comprised of two male members and two female members, with the latter pair harmonizing beautifully with one another to bolster the band's twee-tinged arrangements and cutesy songwriting. Musical arrangements are kept simple and light, usually made-up of acoustic guitar strumming, simple drumming and the occasional appearance of novelty items, such as an old toy Speak & Spell. As of 2011, When I Was 12 had yet to release any official material, instead opting to offer downloads on its social media sites.
