Formed from the ashes of surf band The Velveteen Loveseat, The Down is a Denver-based trio that picks up where its former band left off. Still focusing on surf guitars, The Down adds a hefty dose of scuzzed out instrumentals--more in the vein of 1960s garage rockers than modern lo-fi bands--classic punk vocals and driving drums. Though the band only formed in 2011, it is already starting to win over audiences throughout Denver by performing at smaller underground venues.
