As it's based out of Portland--arguably the indie pop capitol of America--it isn't surprising that five-piece Dirty Mittens doesn't shy away from pop hooks, cute vocal trills and saccharine instrumentals. While the band certainly doesn't fight its hometown's love for twee-inflected pop, it doesn't need to; the band's evident mastery over the genre and ability to incorporate more unique elements, like a horn section, set it apart from the slews of other Portland pop bands. Since forming in 2007, Dirty Mittens has built up a solid fan base, touring across the country and playing festivals along the way.
