The project of Al Trout and Cody Tantalo, Death Rides West is a very appropriately titled band that creates Gothic Americana fit for the soundtrack to a dark Western. Often described as an Ennio Morricone score with Tom Waits-styled vocals, the duo manages to be haunting and twangy at the same time, and is just as likely to sing about vampires as about outlaws. While the duo only had a short EP to its name as of 2011, it won acclaim from many local music publications throughout its hometown of Denver and consistently wows crowds with every live show.
