From Oslo, Norway, Spirits of the Dead combines classic and psychedelic rock of the 1970s with modern electronic rock sounds. The quartet formed in 2007 and by 2008 the band had recorded a live album, their self titled debut. Spirits of the Dead's twisted guitar riffs and loaded rhythms, combined with their slow-burning psychedelia, form a sound that has been compared to rock legends of the past, including Led Zeppelin. Their second and more folk inspired, jazzy album, The Great God Plan, was released in 2011.
