The Lions

The Lions, a trio from Calgary, is a raw rock and roll band that displays heavy British influences in their music. Sporting a 7-string guitar, songwriter and vocalist Chris Millar provides the Lions with ominous guitar riffs and catchy lyrics. Although they've been playing music together since 2003, the band didn't release a full studio album until January of 2008, when they dropped Sounds Familiar. Since then, the band has played high profile festivals, including North By North East and South By South West and released one EP and three more studio albums. The Lions released their fifth studio album, Iconoclastic: Motion Picture Soundtrack/ Pub Songs and Sing-a-Longs, in the summer of 2011, demonstrating the same pushy, rock and roll sound with a more jazzy and melodic feel.
