About
Sky-rocketing to fame in the mid-1970s Martha and the Galactic Fish has built up a stellar reputation, proving that a space disco band can succeed beyond being a one-hit wonder. Much more than just a few elementary school friends in metallic spandex and bejeweled berets, this 13-piece Parisian party sets itself apart from the rest of the gritty space disco scene by drawing influence from Bach, Blue Oyster Cult and actual space travel. Ignoring all advice from their manager to undergo some sort of professional astronaut training, the members set out on an excursion through the Milky Way to write their debut album and returned three years later with two less members and Strictly Plutonic, a truly genius tale of the mercury rising on an interplanetary dance floor. It was immediately clear that the album would be universally respected, but the lack of gravity made for a difficult recording process. Once the members re-adjusted to Earth life and standing, the final studio recording was considered award-worthy in more than 30 people's opinions. Martha and the Galactic Fish's hit songs "Astronaut Ice Cream" and "I'd Give You More Rings Than Saturn (If You'd Just Give Me Your Number)" have been featured in commercials for Saturn vehicles, Milky Way candy bars, and The Big Bang Theory.
