Lateef the Truthspeaker

Best known for his work with Lyrics Born and DJ Shadow as founding members of the Solesides/Quannum Projects collective, Lateef the Truthspeaker (or simply Lateef) has remained a tremendous presence in the alternative hip-hop realm. Raised by highly political parents in Oakland, California, Lateef fittingly focuses on rapping with a political message. He has collaborated with the likes of Fatboy Slim and Gift of Gab, and has contributed his MC skills to an AIDS benefit compilation. In more recent years, Lateef has focused on his own solo work and has released several albums where he acts as both MC and producer.
