From the San Francisco Bay Area, this young, female-only quartet combines electronic music with the free-love feel of the 1960s. Since the release of their first EP, Concrete Flowers, in early 2011, the group has enchanted the local music scene with their echoing voices and use of hypnotizing synthesizers. Although they all contribute vocals, lead singer Nicole Alexandra takes the forefront without being overbearing. Her coy but distinctive melodies and folky percussion contradict beautifully with pulsing bass and computer generated beats. Their sound is surprisingly cohesive and a true model of the paradox between acoustic and electronic-dance music. Neon Nonsense began their first tour in the summer of 2011 and surprised fans by dropping their full length album on opening night.
