Equally influenced by city living and rural Americana, Bad Luck City manages to create urban folk-styled murder ballads. The Denver-based sextet has no qualms with blending gritty electric guitar with ethereal violin or roots rock with dark Gothic themes, making for a thoroughly unique sound. Since forming in 2004, the band has slowly built up a fan base, garnering comparisons to the likes of Nick Cave and Tom Waits, but with a fuller orchestral backing band.
