Combining the best elements of slow, dreamy indie pop and vintage singer/songwriter fare with lush instrumentation, Alameda is another strong entry in Portland, Oregon's rich indie folk scene. The band formed as a trio that included Stirling Myles (vocals/guitar), Jessie Dettwiler (cello) and Jennifer Woodall (clarinet). Winning over its fan base with its baroque and well-orchestrated songwriting, Alameda soon decided to expand its lineup by two members, adding violin and a second guitar. The group's music has been described by media outlets around Portland as a rich blend of Nick Drake-esque folk and slowcore indie rock.
