The Barcelona Laptop Orchestra is a collective of professors from the Department of Sonology at the School of Music in Catalonia, Spain. With a focus on creating new and exciting musical interfaces and sound manipulations, the group creates aleatoric experiments that explore sonic space by means of forward-thinking audio/visual displays. Melody and rhythm are afterthoughts in the Barcelona Laptop Orchestra's music and therefore audiences should not expect to nod their heads much during the group's live shows. Instead, audiences should expect a fascinating and surreal foray into what technological advancement has allowed sound engineers and experimental composers to do with music in the hyper-digital age of the 21st Century.
