Halabisky's Uprising

Formed by saxophonist Dave Halabisky, Halabisky's Uprising meshes together the worlds of jazz, hip-hop and alternative rock. Based out of Ottawa, Canada, the band consists of four permanent members, but the majority of its work includes guest vocalists and rappers, like Moka Only, Amalia Townsend and Sadie Hell. While the music of Halabisky's Uprising does fuse a diverse catalog of styles, the focus remains on its founder's saxophone, which ties all the genres together neatly. Since forming in 2008, the group has found a solid fan base throughout Ontario and often plays fairly prominent Canadian music festivals.
