Loopsy Dazy

Though it is ultimately spearheaded by electronic artist Mikey Dorje, Loopsy Dazy is a constantly evolving, multifaceted collaborative project that is heavy on improvisation and experimentation. Dorje describes his work as "organic electronica," which is pretty apt after hearing his songs' layers upon layers of both live instrumentation and electronic production. Much of the music created by Dorje and whatever collaborator(s) he happens to be working with at the time relies on improvisational sections fueled by loop stations. Guitar, piano and string parts are played live, recorded and looped, while he manipulates them and adds electronic drum beats and trippy digital effects. For all the focus on experimentation however, Loopsy Dazy's music remains focused and song-driven, and its shows have become word-of-mouth favorites throughout Canada.
