Though it now calls Canada's capital city of Ottawa its home, Autumn Canon's roots can be traced to Vancouver, where Shaun Francisco, the group's lead singer/guitarist, was born and raised. After the death of his mother in 2009, Francisco opted to pack up and move to Ottawa in hopes of finding a band to compliment the roots-based, country-tinged rock and roll songs he'd been writing. He eventually pieced together a five-piece band and Autumns Canon was born. The group's rollicking alt-country style has served it well thus far, and with a $150,000 first place victory in a Canadian radio contest now under its belt, it should continue to thrive throughout Canada and beyond.
