Fed up with watching their musical peers clinging to trend-of-the-month styles and flowery arrangements, the members of Alright Alright made a pact to pen the sort of fun, efficient rock and roll songs they grew up loving. The Toronto four-piece has indeed made good on its agreement, as one listen to Girl, its debut EP, will surely attest to. Spiky distorted guitars and Motown bass lines share space with sunny sing-a-long melodies that recall the 1950s pop it claims as a major inspiration.
