The Canadian indie rock band Avery Island is a group that thrives off the dynamics created between siblings. Helmed by Lauren and Brandon Heenan, a brother/sister team that does all the songwriting, Avery Island is able to make music that is a clear reflection of the continual pushing and almost one-upmanship the two possess. Creating delicate songs that pull influences from the modern folk genre as much as from the indie pop scene, the band's sound is a characteristic blend of styles bolstered by Lauren's heady vocal approach that has managed to impress individuals who've heard its live performances and respectable studio material. Formed in 2009, the group has experienced a few lineup changes since its inception, but is now settled comfortably into a quintet and looks like it is stabilized and ready to introduce its sound to a widespread music listening demographic.
