A steady contributor to albums by Fucked Up and other Canadian musicians, Jennifer Castles is known on the Toronto underground folk scene for her naturally Southern-sounding vocals. After putting her time in as a guest vocalist, Castle decided to focus on a solo career and released her debut album in 2011. The result is a collection of stark, honest ballads full of smokey vocals and Americana twang. While the singer/songwriter isn't well-known outside of her native Toronto, it's easy to see how Castle could win over an audience throughout the American South.
