About
Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar (Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra) is a youth orchestra based in Caracas, Venezuela that is generally considered to be one of the strongest youth orchestras currently performing today. Led by world-renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel since 1999, the orchestra itself was established in 1975 by economist and pianist José Antonio Abreu, as a means to provide many of Venezuela's poorest children with a musical education. Thanks to the resounding success of Abreu's project, the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar is not only considered to be one of the best youth orchestras in the world, but one of the world's best orchestras period.
