Formed by Martin Trimble and Glen Bartup when they were still teenagers, the four-piece now called 22-20s developed from an old blues cover band. While the UK-based musicians had grown up smitten with the likes of Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy, they soon realized they also wanted to incorporate their own distinct styles into their music. This decision shifted the band off the blues circuit and landed them into the indie blues-rock genre, which led to a record label bidding war involving over 30 labels vying for the band. 22-20s' debut album found tremendous success, but after having difficulties writing a followup, the band split in 2006, reforming after a two year hiatus and adequate time away from the spotlight.
