The Urbana, Illinois-based band Zmick is a group that tries to defy categorization. By blending a myriad of genres--including progressive rock, jazz and jam rock--the quartet has pioneered a characteristic sound that is entirely its own. Formed in 2007, Zmick has become a staple of the Midwest music scene and a noted fixture of summer music festivals. With songs packed full of tasteful instrumental progressions, many of the band's songs entice readers to get lost in the collective sonic flourishes that the four members of the band equally contribute to.
