Marcel Pagnol’s story “César, Fanny, Marius” was adapted into a play by Francis Huster. Likened to the love between Romeo and Juliet, this star-crossed love story takes place in Marseille with Marius and Fanny. Marius leaves Fanny to satiate his desires to sail the seas but returns home to find he has lost his love to another. The conflict arises between pursuing ardent love and maintaining family honor, as César, Marius’ father, refuses to back down from preserving all that has happened during his son’s absence.
