In the story, Claudio falls instantly in love with Hero, while Beatrice and Benedick each claim they never want to marry. While the first couple must battle rumors and lies about their relationship, Beatrice and Benedick are set up by their friends. As the two friends are pressured into a romance with one another, the humorous "merry war"that ensues between them is full of witty banter. Filled with misunderstandings, flirtations, and countless obstacles, this Shakespeare classic is a light and fun romantic comedy.
