The Scottish Chamber Orchestra (SCO) is Scotland's national chamber orchestra based in Edinburgh and is generally considered to be one of the UK's strongest orchestras of its kind performing today. Known particularly for its success at championing the compositions of contemporary composers, particularly British composers, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra has commissioned more than a hundred of new works to be performed, giving many skilled contemporary composers a chance to showcase their work publicly. A regular ensemble at Britain's world-renowned annual classical music festival The Proms, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra is a household name for British classical music enthusiasts, and continues to be one of the strongest European chamber ensembles performing today.
