Although country musicians Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry both had solo careers, they didn't achieve noted commercial success until they teamed up to collaborate as a duo. Hailing from Kentucky, Montgomery Gentry released its first album Tattoos & Scars, in 1999, and although the album wasn't a smash hit the group's slow burn success managed to display lasting qualities.
