WDR Big Band is a Cologne, Germany-based jazz ensemble that was initially founded in 1946 as the official band of West German Radio. Though the group has evolved considerably over the years, changing bandleaders about every 10 years and maintaining a revolving door policy with its musicians, the WDR Big Band still manages to hold onto its sonic traits that helped build its reputation during its formative years.
