Culcha Candela is a Berin-based band that was founded 2002. The band is comprised of Johnny Strange (Uganda/Germany), Itchban (Poland), Don Cali (Columbia) and DJ Chino (Republic of Korea). The group's multicultural backgrounds explains why the lyrics of their songs are sung in German, Spanish, English, Swahili and Patois. They are also easily able to blend elements of reggae, hip-hop, salsa, dancehall and rap into their music. Culcha Candela's music is always high-energy and fun but they lyrics can be a bit serious, as many of their songs like "Schöne neue Welt," "Una Cosa" and "Mother Earth" are a critique of society.
