When Sud Sound System officially made it big in 1991, its use of the Salento dialect along with straightforward and relevant lyrics created a great foundation upon which it could grow. Sud has roots in a Salento home, playing for friends, and friends of friends, until the crowds grew too large and the band played in the countryside under the hot summer sun. Such modest beginnings make their following success that much more sweet.
