The Austrian duo Attwenger is comprised of button accordion player Hans-Peter Falkner and drummer Markus Binder. Beginning with its 1990 debut album, Auf da Oim Gengan die Kia, the band has created an unusual combination of hip-hop and traditional Austrian folk music, complete with lyrics in Upper Austrian dialect, occasional drum machines and effects pedals that Falkner uses to give his accordion a distorted electric guitar sound. Despite lyrics that are almost impossible to translate or explain in other languages, Attwenger's unique sound has taken the band to Zimbabwe, Siberia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Malaysia, the US and most European countries. Attwenger released its eleventh studio album, Flux, in 2011.
