Andrea Chénier is a four act opera by Umberto Giodano and Luigi Illica that was first performed at La Scala in Milan, Italy in 1896. Telling the story of French poet Andrea Chénier who was executed during the French revolution, the opera has maintained regular revivals around the world in part due to the lyrical dynamic of the tenor lead, which offers an opportunity for the singer to demonstrate skill and flaunt his singing abilities.
