Gigi D’Alessio is an Italian pop singer-songwriter from Naples. His debut album Lasciatemi cantare was released in 1992, and his career advanced after his first performance at the Sanremo Festival in 2000. D’Alessio now tells stories of his early career when people (mainly members of the Camorra clans around Napoli) used to threaten him to perform for their events.
