NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, formerly known as the NDR Sinfonieorchester, is the symphony orchestra of the radio and television broadcast network Norddeutscher Rundfunk. Based in Hamburg, Germany the ensemble was founded after World War II, as all radio stations in West Germany had been destroyed, with the exception of Radio Hamburg. Since its debut concert in 1945, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra has developed an internationally renowned reputation for its classical and romantic repertoire, as well as for its interpretations of contemporary pieces.
