Formerly known as Cat Stevens, Steven Demetre Georgiou is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who creates music under the moniker Yusuf Islam. After rising to international attention Cat Stevens and earning critical and commercial laudation for records such as 1970's Tea for the Tillerman and 1971's Teaser and the Firecat, he converted to Islam, actioned off all his guitars and dedicated his life to philanthropy within the Muslim community and promoting piece as Yusuf Islam. 28 years after releasing his last album, he returned to pop music in 2006 with the LP, An Other Cup, his first release as Yusuf Islam. He has since continued to drop new music, including 2009's Roadsinger, and even embarked on tour -- his first foray on the road since 1978 -- in support of his 2014 album, Tell 'Em I'm Gone.
