Frank Schöbel is a singer/songwriter and one of the most recognizable pop singers to emerge out of East Germany during the 1960s. He found his first major hit in 1971 with the song "Wie Ein Stern," which managed to construct a pop culture bridge between West and East Germany despite the region's gaping political divide. Schöbel maintained his status as an musical icon through Germany's reunification and continues to perform live with his long-time collaborator and ex-wife, Chris Doerk.
