Erich von Däniken is a Swiss writer who is famous for his claims of extraterrestrial life, specifically the influence extraterrestrials had on early human culture. His books like Chariots of the Gods?, are cornerstone works in the theory that ancient astronauts from another planet helped shape ours. Though his idea are universally rejected by academics and scientists, he has nonetheless helped spark a great debate about the universe and whether or not we are alone in it.
