If you were driving around in your car in 1996 and happened to turn on the radio station, there was a fairly good chance that you were going to hear some Matchbox Twenty. The Orlando, Florida-based group achieved mainstream appeal with an accessible image and accessible songs. Though the group's lead singer, Rob Thomas, struck out on a solo career during the 2000s, he returned to the band and the group still continues to write original material and tour behind it.
