Hootie and the Blowfish is a band from Columbia, South Carolina that rose to popularity after its 1994 debut album, Cracked Rear View, became a monumental success. Led by chief singer/songwriter Darius Rucker, the group's sound blends together elements of roots, folk and alternative rock all within the confines of an easily accessible pop structure. Though the group took a indefinite hiatus in 2008 so Rucker could focus on his solo career, Hootie and the Blowfish announced a full scale reunion in 2019.
