Since starting her stand-up career on the local comedy club circuit in San Francisco, Margaret Cho has catapulted her career onto the world stage through her work as a comedian, author, fashion designer, musician and actress. Cho's comedic style can be seen as a "post-modern" pastiche of her own life: growing up in San Francisco with her Korean immigrant parents and struggling with her own sexuality. Though her views on race and sexuality sometimes played out in a negative light, most notably on the controversial television series All American Girl, Cho has emerged as a respected advocate for women, LGBT rights and the Asian American community.
