Debout Sur Le Zinc is an eclectic music group that originally came together from two different groups, one that played rock and another that played Irish folk. The band’s genre of music is known as nouvelle scène which refers to the new sounds and arrangements, including elements of rock, gypsy, Yiddish and folk. The name of the band, which translates to “standing on the zinc,” came from a night when one of the members played on a counter-top made of the material, which is apparently a way for artists to express themselves proudly.
