Los Angeles-based lo-fi singer/songwriter Ariel Pink formed a band with guitarist/keyboardist Kenny Gilmore, guitarist Cole M. Greif-Neill and drummer Jimi Hey in 2008 to tighten up his live music performances. The band became known as Haunted Graffiti, and for the next couple of years Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti went on tour with Chairlift, Cryptacize and Vivian Girls. After ending its US tour at Coachella in 2009, the band was signed to 4AD records and released its debut single "Round and Round," in 2010, marking the first studio release for Pink whose extensive discography consists mostly of lo-fi home recordings that have yet to be heard. Later the same year, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti released its debut album Before Today, to critical acclaim, earning a spot on Pitchfork's Best New Music list of 2010 and a set at the 2011 All Tomorrow's Parties festival.
