The Alan Parsons Project was an English experimental rock band that was founded in 1975 by audio engineer Alan Parsons and composer Eric Woolfson. Opting to pursue a cinematic and progressive sound, the duo incorporated elements of abstract and avant-garde songwriting into many aspects of its music, helping the band receive well-regarded notoriety amongst the art world and expressionist UK music scene of the late 1970s. By creating concept albums on many of its releases with flourishes of soft rock sentimentality, The Alan Parsons Project went on to be regarded as one of the more influential, but lesser known, experimental rock acts to have ever existed. Although the duo broke-up in 1990, Parsons continues to perform with a different set of musicians as the Alan Parsons Live Project.
