Brigitte Fontaine is a French avant-garde singer who also categorizes herself as an actress and writer. She originally moved to Paris in her teens to become an actress, but started a singing career in 1963. Her early works were collaborations with Jacques Higelin and other artists. Throughout her career, she has experimented with various styles of music, either jumping genres or fusing them together.
