Detroit born singer-songwriter Vickie Winans is one of the country's foremost gospel singers, making a name for herself in the 1980s after an adolescence singing in her church's gospel choir. Winans now travels the world with her music, and was nominated for a Grammy in 2003 for her album Bringing It All Together. Despite over two decades of musical output, Winans has managed to stay at the top of both commercial and critical measurements of success. Fun fact: Winans' son is himself a popular recording artist—R&B artist Mario.
