Wendy James is an English pop and rock singer who is known for being the lead singer of the band Transvision Vamp. She decided to pursue a career as a solo artist following the disbanding of Transivision Vamp. She wrote a letter to Elvis Costello, who wrote an entire album for her. This album became James' debut album, 1993's Now Ain't the Time for Your Tears. She has since released other works such as Queen High Straight and I Came Here to Blow Minds. Her most popular songs include "Paloma's Downs," "King Rat," "You're a Dirtbomb Lester," "The Moon Dead in the River" and "Farewell to Love."
