The Swell Season is an Irish folk-rock duo consisting of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. The two met in 2003 while working on the film Once, and soon after began collaborating musically. The Swell Season released their debut album, Strict Joy, in 2009, which was met with critical acclaim. The album featured the hit single "Low Rising," which was nominated for a Grammy Award. The Swell Season's music is a blend of folk, rock, and pop, with Hansard's emotive vocals and Irglová's ethereal harmonies.
