Tony Monaco

Born in Columbus, Ohio, Tony Monaco initially learned how to play the accordion. After falling in love with the sounds of the revered jazz fusion organist Jimmy Smith, Monaco would transfer the skills he learned on the accordion to mastering the organ. Eventually going on to release his debut album, Burnin' Grooves, in 2001, Monaco along with other contemporaries like Joey DeFrancesco and Bruce Forman have been credited with the popular resurgence of the "chitlin' circuit" style of jazz music.
