Washington D.C. band Darkest Hour has over the years slowly drifted from hardcore towards metal and has proven to be one of the finest examples of metalcore around. Even if you can't hear the lyrics because of the raw intesity with which they are screamed, rest assured that it would appear to be poetry if seen on a page. The music is designed to make really intense mosh pits, so if you're fragile make sure to take care of yourself and don't accidentally wind up in the circle.
