Originally called Artlord & the Self Portraits, Future Islands formed in Greenville, NC in early 2003, playing countless raging house shows and building up their fan base in the process. The band switched its name to Future Islands in 2006, and also altered its lineup and stage performance style. The band's rhythmic synth punk is infectious and dance floors all over the world go crazy whenever the band steps on stage.
