Slinger Francisco is a calypso singer/songwriter and guitarist who creates music under the name The Mighty Sparrow. Widely referred to as the "Calypso King of the World," he has become of the most well-known and successful artists to emerge out of the Caribbean since he released his debut album Calypso Kings and Pink Gin, in 1957. In between releasing records, such as 1963's Sparrow in Hi-Fi and 2000's Calypso Awakening from the Emory Cook Collection, The Mighty Sparrow collected critical accolades from competitions such as Trinidad's Carnival Road March, and has been named "Calypso Monarch" eleven times.
